Experience
Research Assistant
I am currently a research assistant at Indiana University, working under the advisement of Dr. Gavin Bidelman and Dr. Dana Urbanski. In the short time that I've been here at IU, I've already been able to learn proper investigation protocol, and use a vast amount of technology including (but not limited to) EEG, MRI, and OAE recording devices. Due to Dr. Bideman's Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience Lab, I've been able to better understand concepts such as neuroimaging, psychophysics, computational modeling, and machine learning to investigate how the brain processes speech and music.
Prior to my time at IU, I worked with Dr. Tom Collins and Dr. Raina Murnak at the University of Miami, investigating the integration of AI tools in music production and education. Through this project (CHAI), I developed skills in research design, data collection, survey administration, and participant interviews—foundational experiences that helped shape my approach to conducting human-centered research.
Recording Engineer
Alongside my teaching and research, I have also worked extensively as a recording and live sound engineer. At the University of Miami, I managed recording sessions for both classical and contemporary ensembles, handled studio troubleshooting, and proctored licensing exams as part of my role as Studio Manager. I also engineered live sound and video production for performances ranging from small jazz groups to large contemporary ensembles, gaining hands-on experience with the technical and creative demands of live audio. These roles not only strengthened my technical expertise in signal flow, mixing, and production, but also deepened my appreciation for how technology can capture and enhance the musical experience in real time.
Teacher
During my time at UM, I had the privilege of working with the Shalala MusicReach Program, which provides students in grades 6–12 from underserved backgrounds with access to group and individual lessons on the instrument and genre of their choice. In this program, I served as an instructor in music technology, musical theatre, vocal technique, and songwriting. This program continued into the summer and I still cherish the experience.
MusicReach gave me the chance to mentor younger students, and my role as a Teaching Assistant at UM allowed me to expand my teaching into higher education by working directly with undergraduate students. I led instruction for the CHAI Ensemble at Frost, where I taught students how to utilize production tools and integrate emerging AI technologies, including Kits.AI voice modeling and online stem-splitting platforms.
Retail Experience
In addition to my academic and engineering work, I have several years of experience in customer-facing retail and healthcare environments. As a Licensed Pharmacy Technician at CVS Pharmacy, I assisted with prescription management, inventory, insurance troubleshooting, and direct customer service. Working alongside skilled pharmacists, I gained valuable knowledge about pharmaceuticals and medication interactions. Prior to that role, I worked as a retail associate at Target and at Food & Thought, a local organic market in my hometown, where I rotated through multiple positions—including grocer, café staff, juice bar/barista, and clothing sales. These diverse roles strengthened my organizational skills, multitasking ability, and attention to detail—qualities I now carry into my research and teaching.
